About Kapit-Bisig

BACKGROUND 

Kapit-Bisig  is a Filipino expression which means  “arm in arm”. Kapit-Bisig foundation was founded in April 1995  and officially became a foundation in December 1996. The core group was informally established and became active in 1993 when it started organizing activities for Filipino women. The original core group which consisted of 6 Filipinas became the workgroup. The workgroup consists of 10 members divided into different committees, such as support/assistance, pr & publicity and cultural affairs.

HOW DOES KAPIT-BISIG WORK?

Kapit-Bisig  organizes informative and theme meetings as well as social activities and gatherings. These activities are beneficial for Filipinas, especially the newcomers to have the opportunity to meet their fellow Filipinas and exchange experiences and thoughts in a familiar atmosphere. Dutch partners, family, friends and acquaintances have the chance to get more acquainted with the Filipino culture.
Informative meetings are aimed at facilitating the integration of these women in the Dutch society and giving assistance in relation to employment and job possibilities. During the meetings/assembly, information and enlightenment are provided mostly on the following topics:
